My recent rambling post hinted at future story ideas for Grotesqueries, which are dark retellings of "The Pied Piper of Hamelin" and "Bluebeard". Welp...
Madrigal is, of course, based on the Pied Piper fairy tale while Voices in the Briars is my take on Bluebeard. Madrigal was originally titled The Bells of St. Mark's Eve, a story idea that failed to grow legs because significant parts were missing, and it wasn't until after I posted about the folktale that I realized there were so many threads the folktale can pick up, and it was a matter of rethinking the original plot and using the Pied Piper fairy tale to give it shape and volume (sounds like a hair product).
Both books will be fantasy-based, i.e., folktale in setting but (naturally) gothic horror. Now as far as when those will be worked into the calendar, I'm still thinking about it. There'll be some shuffling around, and I want to make sure Ghosts and Tea won't get buried under all these books.
So there they are -- my new beauties. I hope to post a calendar soon.
